Management of Diabetes is a disorder which is characterized by high sugar levels in the blood. The prolonged condition could cause serious health issues like kidney failure, heart diseases, foot ulcers, damage to the eyes and much more.
A person with diabetes can lead a normal and healthy lifestyle if Diabetes is managed properly.
There are three broad categories of Diabetes:
Type I Diabetes: This is caused due to inability of the pancreas to produce insulin.
Type II Diabetes: This is caused due to development of resistance to the insulin.
Gestational diabetes: This occurs in pregnant womenwithout having a previous history of diabetes.
Diabetes Treatment
Management of Diabetes involves managing blood sugar levels. This helps prevent further complications arising because of the disease.
The primary management of the disease involves prevention and treatment both. This is achieved by managing diet, physical exercise, controlling blood pressure and taking good care of foot and eye.
To manage Type I diabetes, insulin is required along with dietary changes and exercise. Type II diabetes, can be managed with oral medication and dietary changes with or without insulin.
